Bon Voyage In Marseille Poeme

The Battalion - Head Up High

"The Battalion" ... I find them only their second album with this: I regret not having met before. I'm a good, recovering their previous effort "The Stronghold of Men", I shot him and then to review their latest "child". I consider the height, if not better than the last. A bit 'of biography, just to understand a little' better my feeling on first hearing. The band was formed in Bergen, the summer of 2006, musicians of experience from some of the legendary groups in Norway: Old bands like Funeral, Grimfist, Taake, Borknagar and St. Satan. Now, if you've never heard, in my opinion, the case will inquire. Those who had already familiar with, probably, you will be doing, as I had done, a certain idea of the record: you have thought of a black or death metal album? Me too! We were wrong. Yes, because this ensemble spariglia cards and offers us something different. A product thrash metal, with the strongest influences of Motörhead, hence my surprise. Stud Bronson (guitar and vocals), Lust Kilman (guitar), Colt Kane (bass) and Morden (drums) immediately slam us in the face "Mind the Step", a song by thrash tiratissima. Here's what I feel for the rest of the platter. Eleven tracks powerful, fast, play well, ruthless in their gait, their pace and, unfortunately, damn equal among themselves. But it is a Cidda that does not leave indifferent to anything: driving, mixed with anger that the technique has its strong point. Nothing to say about the skill of the quartet. Guitars, drums, bass: all remarkably well done. There is also pretty good guitar solos (not too long nor too short) and battery to much, that I was not a little delighted. However, leaves me a bit 'confused the singer's voice, too monotonous and as a style is in the variety of solutions. Finally, the excellent production: everything you feel like you should. I recommend more emphasis on "When Death Becomes Dangerous" and "Bring Out Your Dead", in my opinion the best, because of a more aggressive character which is not found in the other. I said that I feel the song and that is very similar, to my ears, the greater sin. However, if in other cases it is a source of boredom, this is not that much. The tracks are short and its strong flies off the record straight. Bravi. I would be very curious to see them live, but for now, prepare the cream against tearing the neck, I risparo "Head Up High" and I launch nell'headbanger wildest! (Alberto Merlotti)

Disease Illusion - Reality Behind the Illusions of Life

Yes, yes, Yeah ... I'm still here shaking my head, this is the music that I wanted to hear in this damp winter evening: fresh, melodic, angry, sad. Disease Illusion I have a very young band, formed in 2006 from the ashes of The Reapers, combo Bologna, who has tacked its dall'heavy thrash sound of the beginning of a melodic Scandinavian death. The warm melody from a piano opens "Reality Behind the Illusions of Life", then fortunately we think "Predator" to take off all the guitars of obvious inspiration Children of Bodom attack us with their anger, however, cloaked by the same vein melancholic characterize the intro. Yes, yes and again yes, I feel enhances music written from the heart or at least by those who have a passion for these sounds into the veins. Engaging melodies, inspired guitar licks, pilfered something here and there to various Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates and the result (good) is guaranteed. Our full-bodied continue to grind riff, alternating slow atmospheric, gothic setting with the subsequent "From Ashes to Dust" (the best song of the CD, with his amazing guitar riffs, the solos and fits perfectly clean vocals Fabio Ferrari ) and "The opposed," more oriented Swedish death (Soilwork docet). Good performance under Fabio including its component growl / scream, but in general the performance is appreciable technique of the five children (as always applauded the battery that does not leave a moment's peace). The melancholic arpeggios of "Beyond the Walls of Flaming Universe" serves as an ideal bridge conjunction with the second part of the CD, more aggressive and less stretched and pumped ipermelodici pieces. "Blazing Eclipse breaks that is a pleasure, as well as the subsequent" Reborn from Pain "sees Fabio still struggling with clean vocals. Closes called the orchestral version of "From Ashes to Dust", the more pompous arrangements, but that confirms the goodness of a band that, if supported by a decent production and good promotion, will not take long to explode in the scene national metal. Congratulations! (Francesco Scarci)

Helllight - …And then, the Light of Consciousness Became Hell…

If up until now have always associated with Brazil in football, beautiful women, sunny beaches or in the music world for Sepultura or sarcophagus, well now, know that the darkness of Hellligth will drop on your head, obscuring the sun in the sky. From San Paolo there came rain clouds that spread the plague from hell wanted this dark duo. Well if this brief introduction, there seemed clear enough, we're talking about a combo, now already at the finish of the third job, given over to a funeral doom that leaves little room for flashes of light. And you can tell immediately with the title of the opening track, "The Light That Brought Darkness" series "Abandon all hope ye who enter here" and with good reason because you are immediately enveloped by a sense of total absence of oxygen, almost lost the senses, numbed by such great desolation. Do you know what the wonderful thing about all this river of sadness that overwhelms us immediately? That is nothing short of enchanting, stunning intensity, amazing for being so unexpected and unpredictable. Russia's Solitude Productions has fished well this time the other side the world with a band that will gain from the first class crystal fanatics genre of funeral doom, and then in my view will open the minds of those who are so biased against one type of sound that, in contrast to what is might believe, you can give exciting moments of music and Helllight are the clear demonstration, with an album that as it may seem unapproachable, (for example, if we think only the extremely long chunks of certificates over 12 minutes) manages to surprise us at every step. Following an excellent opening track mail, able to give us five minutes with the last moments of profound solemnity, with the second "Downfall of the Rain" there dive in heavy sounds that find their greatest impetus in the insert piano placed in the middle piece. Heavy and oppressive, the duo works carioca on our backs with a sound to the edge of legality, made up of powerful guitars and ultra slow to paint high mountains covered with snow, then riff supported by a commendable work of the synth Fabio De Paula (sounds like a soccer player in the Chievo), and a growling powerful that sometimes gives us moments of peace with clean vocals that I recalled the good Nemtheanga Alan, in his appearance in our own Void of Silence. I would like to further mention it for a few glimpses of thick guitar and classical school, they reveal a certain technical preparation of the ACT South America. Final quote for "Children of Doom", my favorite song, which probably shows the side more "ethereal" (pass me the term) of ours, but that sets my adoration for a band that did not know existed until yesterday. Finally, a very bad sin to cover that with our music has little to do. However sublime! (Francesco Scarci)

Nicht - PART 1 Catalepsy Sinks

From Paris to get here on my desk a mcd Interestingly enough, that since the first track "Out of Reach" (apart from the intro), I was thrown back almost fifteen years, when they released their amazing debut of German Evereve. We're not inhuman levels of that album, but the band's imaginative look Alps, I was immediately won over. The sound brought by the trio led by Iggy Sharpe vocals, presents us with a death gothic infused by dark shades darkeggianti, in the wake of the Norwegian champions Tristania: the riffing despite being a little 'sketchy, and will prove in the end very nice, good evidence Iggy on vocals, which shows a great versatility and ease in moving from a growling, always extremely interesting in light cleaning vocals, a little 'less female vocals Sombra I Yahn, which denotes a lack of personality. In the next "Last Breath", the quality of our experiences a strong surge: entrusted to an acoustic guitar intro, melodic lines, rhythmic very markedly but never pandering, the vocals are traveling on invisible rails cleaning and growling, with the latter always ends up brilliantly to take the upper hand, the central bridge, where Iggy seems a little more aggressive version of Bon Jovi (!?!), with tons of emotion channeled into the flow vibrating guitar melancholy, suffering and hopeless. And just looking for hope you proceed with the fourth "Hope" open from desperate whispers and ethereal female vocals to thunderous growling up to Iggy and the impetuous rhythmic attack (on the edge of the black), which makes this my favorite track of this sparkling debut, still able to become the bearer of dim lights even in autumn Subsequent tracks. I will not be Nicht phenomena at the technical level, but their taste for decadent environments, atmosphere tense (listen to the interlude "Room 19" to get an idea) and a beautiful song full of groove, make this EP a good starting point for a band that exists only since 2009. Good luck then, I can not wait to discover your full length! (Francesco Scarci)

Wraithmaze - Adagio in Self-Destruction

The information I have available for this Finnish band are very low, from a cover almost indecipherable because of its darkness, all that is in my hands is contained in the booklet (thin) of the CD, which apart from the text informs us that we are dealing with a trio formed by Jarkko Rintee the vocals, Matti Auerkallio to Janne on drums and synths and guitar Kielinen. So now we start with the analysis of the music of our people since the initial "Anxiety," reveals a sound able to combine to doom sounds horrific traits that mark, which instantly caught my attention: riffone ultra heavy opening drive with demonic voices in the background and a sinister keyboard (to dominate around the track) that seems borrowed from the soundtracks the films of Dario Argento and then all of a sudden a hole in the sky and the rhythms that start in their disturbing and very melodic pace. Scandinavian school pounding riffs fact that it is a pleasure and the growling of Jarkko riposseduto to unleash rivers of fear. With "Contradiction" and his mighty air of mystery, I seem to catch the sound of us, the influences of fellow Gloomy Grim: rhythmic mid-tempos, synthesizers that create dark environments horror, the chilling effect if the final hearing in a dark room, even the excellent chorus 'Walking Contradiction' that is imprinted in my mind and no longer able to remove the feeding our hunger for adrenaline. Continue on the same line with the pompous "Liver Burn Burn" song that continues to highlight the good qualities of the Finnish combo that while not going to try some kind of refined sound, has the merit of producing catchy songs, constantly combining rhythmic black very airy and symphonic interludes interspersed with ambient (see the title track). "In the Depts of Oblivion" the vocals, in a more screaming, yelling at a black belt reminiscent of the symphonic Dimmu Borgir first, which gradually rising in intensity during the song until the epilogue harpsichord. "Equilibrance", sixth track of this intelligent work, a suite is almost twelve minutes long, which once again opens with gloomy melodies and then embark on a mid-tempo reaches its climax in a bridge at one half the song, with melodies full of melancholy that definitely took me back to the early work of My Dying Bride and Anathema, then undoubtedly positive. The final "Observations of Cremation" is a song that serves as the outro to a release certainly positive that allowed me today to discover a new (yet another) reality from only one country, Finland! Helheim - Asgards Fall

What a nice surprise! You have no idea what he felt after having slipped this mcd 6 pieces in my stereo, a clever mix of black and viking metal. Forget the previous work of the Norwegian band gaps, and finally H'grimnir members (here helped by Hoest, vocalist Taake) have hit the mark, taking a big step forward from the previous album "Kaoskult. Since the initial "Asgards I Fall", the quartet of Bergen offers us his own highly personal and evocative sound, without outbursts of black folk to be counterbalanced by passages in which instruments make their appearance typical of Nordic culture, much more evocative and sometimes used in past by Quorthon, as most of his epic Bathory. The second track is a short interlude that introduces us to "Asgards Fall II, mid-time of less than 12 minutes which gives us the Helheim renewed (and at this point I can not wait to listen to the upcoming full length): the 'epic is even stronger and more echoes of "Hammerheart" of the previously mentioned are mixed with the sound Bathory the beginnings of Einherjer, mixing it all with the more folkish period Enslaved "Below the Lights." It seems to me that he was catapulted into Valhalla, with Helheim that tell the incredible exploits of the warriors described by Norse mythology, offering all sounds very melodic (bestemmia!!) But evocative, exciting and easily imprint themselves in our heads with some catchy tunes (ah second !!!); blasphemy but after all that's wrong, we try to expand a bit 'more of our mental borders and enjoy the good view of the extreme has to propose. Thunder threatening close to the track and the original trilogy, and we open the doors to the second part of the cd introduced by the breakout of "Helheim VII. And so it starts with the black of "Og Dualitet Ulver" ride that recalls the glacial riffing, but effective never too late lamented Windir close to this amazing release with "Jernskogen" remake (fairly useless) already proposed in a song ' album "Blod & Ild", a true masterpiece of Scandinavian band. If a good day starts in the morning, my hands are already rubbing waiting to hear "ok Heiðenðomr Motgangr", which probably will be the real launch pad for a band that has never been too taken into account in black international scene. The premises are all good, now we want the facts! (Francesco Scarci)

Raventale - After

Come back to record Mr Astaroth, leader of one man band Ukrainian Raventale, which in just over a year and a half from the previous Mortal Aspirations ", returns with his black atmospheric doom. If so much I had enjoyed the previous release, with "After" seems to me that the talented multi-instrumentalist has taken a slight step back, proposing sounds a lot more derivative than in the past. The album opens with "Gone", ten minutes of a suffocating doom, clocked and desolate, in which the voice of our hero is confirmed suffering and despair, but never go beyond in a screaming Blackish. The sound continues to have as reference points the great masters of the genre (as of the beginning though), Anathema and My Dying Bride, showing rhythmic permeated with a pathos and a drama, now real trademark for the artist from Kiev. Steps overlap in ambient noise breakers, where the only emotion to emerge that can not be those of un'autunnale melancholy. Finally, the CD begins to take part and I can recognize the quality of Raventale, that in short (to their usual standard) title track returns to show that evil also revealed itself in previous work, while maintaining the mystical aura of the time. Minutes pass and it is the turn of the instrumental "Youth", another 5 minutes of icy landscapes typical of the steppe, where once again, wedging rhythms that bring to mind the Anathema "The Silent Enigma". Ben is so in this case being derivative, even if the originals are still unreachable, because the limit of good Astaroth, is sometimes a bit 'too repetitive in his guitar riffs. We're almost at the end of the cd and it is the turn of "Flames" more song-oriented rather than black Nordic able to continue to pursue the path of the funeral doom heard so far: a bit 'Immortal (the most epic), a little' Burzum (the most melodic) and a bit 'Dimmu Borgir ( the least experimental), the Raventale push their sound to Norway. We must say that this track is nothing but a re-recording of "Shredding the Skies by Fire", song from the debut "Means on a Crystal Field." When I thought that now the cd was over after the fourth track, a bonus track peeps of 7 minutes, which eventually will also be my favorite track on the disc, surely the most varied, even if the ghosts of Burzum and Satyricon emerge once again in a song that makes her think of minimalism. On the other hand, the review said at the opening of this "After" is by far the most derivative album of our friend, Astaroth, but I could go with a "who cares", if after all the to music jumping off the tracks of this CD, you can listen pleasantly continue to transmit the cold dark emotions, it means that we will pass this on even venial sin ... Kraaker - Musikk Fra Vettenes Dom

When I read the informational flyer experimental black and Norway do not know why but I shudder runs through the back, such is the curiosity and the overwhelming desire to hear something a truly amazing in this boring summer. Alas, from the very first notes of this release, my excitement was immediately extinguished by the stupidity of the music of our proposal. You can not take the piss fans (let alone those who write the reviews), peddling something for what it really is not, oh yes, because our Norwegian duo does is to propose a concentration of black old school, with some minor variations on a theme, but at the end of the school Scandinavian ingredients are there: Mosquito strafed riffing, vocals, savage, glacial sounds and some slowdown presage the emergence of something really experimental and may appear at any moment ' other, but soon, I have heard, will never arrive. Our wandering musicians, like crows dark (this is the citations of these strange people) do not produce anything interesting, let alone new or experimental, but only a black thrash inconclusive which makes this summer one of the most boring Forever ... Folge Dem Wind - Inhale the Sacred Poison

Now admittedly, France has become a breeding ground for talented black metal band, no denying the evidence, but Deathspell Omega, Blut Aus Nord, Alcest, Pensees Nocturne, Les Discrets (and thousands of others) all come from the country of the hated cousins and even today I have to surrender before the clear superiority of these Folge Dem Wind and it will come to count among the most talented bands from across the Alps . Without this broad premise, I can also say that I follow the quintet from the Montgeron unknown, since their debut EP, "Hail The Pagan Age ", and since then the band have struck me for the sound dark and evil, which is outlined more markedly in the first official release, but in my opinion, only with this remarkable" the Sacred Inhale Poison "almost quotes of genius. And it does so from the beginning with the title track malatissima which straddles black sounds, avant-garde influences and psychotic, throws us into a whirlwind of insane madness with his passes and 7 minutes. With the subsequent "... Of Blood & Ether", the music of our time, while revealing the very black black roots, leads us to walk through difficult territory explored by black groups. We're not in front of the Norwegian proposal of schizoid Fleurety or disruptive to the class of the aforementioned Deathspell Omega, but honestly some choices harmonics, some dissonance rhythm, the constant presence of murky atmospheres (ascoltatevi "Grey Behind the Veil") and the search for fragments intimate, they merely confirm the enormous potential of ours. The third track we've already mentioned but I would citarvi the wonderful prologue that metal music has little to do to be safe (who sued Jazz?) And this is precisely the point of winning Folge Dem Wind: savage attacks with their ruthless riffs clearly of northern black and then nell'incedere aggrovigliante of the song, knowing how to drive in the dark depths of their mind malatissima, accomplices also heartrending vocals Kilvaras. I want to make a further assumption: "the Sacred Inhale Poison" is not a work of immediate assimilation, are very different plays to be able to assimilate and it can certainly appreciate, but when you will be entered in the ears, it will be very difficult to do without it, because it has that quid, the feature that only big band able to dare to iNOS, able to create something lasting and are convinced that our strategic have these features. Exceptional "... Of Reptilian Fires", song that in itself, contains all the refined elegance of brutality and experimentation, and the ineffable simplicity in managing long pieces with extreme ease. The disk spins that is a pleasure between goggled guitar lines, inhuman scream, post metal inserts, fragments of jazz crazy, making the joy of those who, like me, is the constant and frantic search for unusual sounds and those proposed by Folge Dem Wind, surely contain something magical, esoteric, dreamy and deeply evil. Alluring! (Francesco Scarci)

Hierophant - Hierophant

this prosperous period for the Italian scene: after the post hardcore of Amia Venera Landscape A metal of the post Cold Dead Body, cyber metal, or the death of Aneurysm of grooveggiante Mothercore, arrive on the scene here is another interesting fact that the dreaded Hierophant. The band's self-titled album in Ravenna is a concentrated corrosive brutal music that walks on parallel tracks, (and mind you, never will meet), black metal and hardcore, this among other things, the more uncompromising and wild. The nine fierce arrows contained herein, creating a sound mixture corrosive, suffocating and unhealthy, which is unlikely to give oxygen to your lungs 35 minutes after which it will seem like crazy, crushed dall'insanità in this CD is pregnant. Already starting from the first track, you can see that in our DNA is contained something sick, psychotic and anxious, which soon will take over. It is slow but very threatening his gait, ready to explode in the second "I Am I, You, Nobody, three agonizing minutes of music and sounds black evil oppressive offering supported by heart-rending cries, typical of the movement hardcore old school-style Integrity. And the vocalist of the band Dwid Van Hellion Cleveland, appearing as a guest in the third razor, "As Kalki", which begins with cold, the sign of a crust and then turn to extremist punk sounds more rational. The same applies to the following "Mother Tiamat" song from the aura that much left, especially without ever stepping on the accelerator, has the advantage of capturing our attention to the sounds that we can imagine a conceivable mix of Isis and Enslaved. I do not know, maybe I'm writing crap, but I guarantee that it is not easy to characterize the sound of the Hierophant, as could be easily and directly from the first listen. But is this really what I care about and confusing, because listening to a very shallow, the idea that we make us of this amazing ensemble, it would be totally wrong and would end up labeled as a hardcore classic, but here is the error and the need to investigate listening to this release dig deep into the psyche of these guys, definitely love the sound ancestral punk / hardcore, but certainly also strongly affected by the devastating and violent black metal sounds of Darkthrone, Mayhem in the early '90s, in an unprecedented journey into the evil world of extreme music. Praise for the final "Hermetic Pt.3 Sermon," the song that shows our love for visceral Neurosis and companionship. Pure vitriol, feral! (Francesco Scarci)

Sonic Reign - Raw Dark Pure

are from Germany, are a duo playing black metal with a dark colored raw-depressive. Sonic Reign debut for the long haul, with a work hard impact, as proposed by our sound, recalls that sound "modern" of recent Satyricon, Darkthrone mixed to roughness of The Cult is Alive ". Scratchy guitars, syncopated rhythms and vocals that evil can not even recall "Volcano" Satyr and his companions. Rare melodic phrasing, misty autumn atmosphere, acoustic parts and old school black splinters, make "Raw Dark Pure" a product is highly recommended to those who love this kind of sound, so icy and detached to any kind of influence avant-garde style Arcturus. The debut of the band certainly does not, however, Teutonic miracle, because such records are now left with tons in recent years. However, the band tries to carve out a defined sound, thanks to a double use of vocals, screaming and effect, but also thanks to some solution is very rare in the black, the solos. The thing that amazes me most is also the choice of the label, Metal Blade, which in recent days had focused exclusively on metalcore band. The icy cover of the CD in full Darkthrone style, with a little 'more work, Sonic Reign could be the surprise of the future ... (Francis Scarci)

Nine - It’s Your Funeral

The Spinefarm we begin by producing bands like this? I appreciated the Finnish label for its consistency in producing essentially background band from Finland and that they played black, death or power. Now, with the Swedes Nine, goes even a band playing hardcore punk influences. If I were to mention out of hand a band of reference, think of Entombed's "Uprising", but then the work evolves in a strange way: the CD part still strong, aggressive, with rough vocals of Johan Lindqvist to dominate the scene. The third track is already more quiet with a nice guitar melody, embroidery in the background, unusual speed for such kind. A pity that the production discriminate the sounds of various instruments, to put in evidence, it seems to me, the only voice of Johan. Subsequent songs lose a bit 'of evil and the initial CD starts wearily towards a conclusion, perhaps too hastily, in which the band of Linkoping, seems to play Foo Fighters-style, but with vitriolic vocals. Their questionable decision, but also makes it difficult for myself, being able to give a clear assessment of all of the disk. I'm tempted to define our sound as "post grungecore" you give it a listen, maybe you may also like ... (Francesco Scarci)

Vomitory - Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize

Ouch, when I read the package Vomitory, I feared the worst for my ears already battered this period. Back to the historical Swedish band (around since 1989) with their sixth album, an attack on gun cotton made from the classic sound violent death halfway between the savage and brutal American death in Scandinavia. Ten beautiful songs compact, fast, and diabolical, build tons of riffs, launched a thousand against the listener. The ingredients used by Vomitory then, are always the same: brutal rhythms, growling catacomb, rages at the edge of the grind, but also delays in the thrash overdrawn. Compared with the previous "Primal Massacre", the differences are not very significant, perhaps in this terrifying "Terrorize ...", the pieces are more brutal and direct, however distinguished, always an excellent production, clean and powerful, which occurred at the Leon Music Studios. Difficult to identify a song rather than another, because all ten tracks are the arrows that can pierce our side. The influences of various early Entombed and Dismember, and the extreme American gore bands, are always clearly identifiable in the background of our music. 17 years have passed since their debut, but nothing has changed, the blood continues to flow in torrents ... Ver Sacrum - Tyrrenika

In all honesty, I expected something better from this release, for more shares hailed the choice of Tuscan combo to celebrate the exploits of a legendary people very unhappy, the Etruscans. And what's better than the most ferocious black and pulled to make this commemoration? Well actually I think the choice of our very controversial and obvious, but we know that when it comes to patriotic pride, there is no better than extremist kind of black metal. We must say that the sound extreme in this work is not limited to merely scratching sounds like that, but more typically converge even sounds like the blades of the classical Scandinavian death or thrash mittleuropeo of those full-bodied. "Tyrrenika" is the debut album by this quintet of Siena and a bit 'ingenuity is still evident within 40 minutes of this little platter. 40 minutes of rhythmic tiratissime supported by a battery that seems more than a musical instrument of the anti starless nights of Baghdad, for his frightening speed. The crackling vocals of Philip "Velthar" Piermattei (evocative and suggestive, at times when she sings in Latin) recite in their excruciating pace, the story and the difficulties encountered by the Etruscans in their short lives. In short, nothing new on the horizon, although it is hoped that this concept album, is a starting point for us and a turning point for the charged black italic, proud of his illustrious ancestors and her memorable story . Grenouer - Lifelong Days

Excellent test Grenouer, Perm Russian quartet that with this "Lifelong Days", a reissue of the previous album released only in Russia under the title "Presence With War, "entered the European market through Locomotive Records. It is an album that embraces the listener with industrial atmosphere throughout its duration and that will satisfy the needs of many of those metalheads "hard but not too much." It starts with the bombastic "Indecent Loyalty," which introduces the disk without too many compliments to prepare the room for sound teeth and syncopations of "Addicted to You": a nice and "different" moment, capable of drugging the mind of those who can listen. Superb "With No Concern" where short iterations and well-designed, inviting the head of the most rampant headbanging metalhead. The subsequent "Away From Now" is just a steppingstone to more and ill thought out "Finding the One" where the voice, sometimes growling, distorted guitars, along with a good test of the drummer, invited to pogo more violent, dragging a 'mystical ecstasy in which everything is permitted. The evil is weakened only slightly in "Off the Back of Others" and then once again be re-embraced in "The Unexpected", a clever amalgam of guitars, drums and well cadenced pauses mechanized "as required" the piece without falling into excesses. With "Employed Beggar", however, the program change: dissonant guitars become, abandoning the previous sound. Excellent "Re-Active" in the album also features the video clip. To close the disc the slow, quiet and clean voice this time, "Patience", which brings us, unfortunately, the harsh reality from which the mellow melodies of "Lifelong Days" have managed to snatch only momentarily. Enough to Kill - A Reason for...

finally reach the long-distance debut on the Milan Enough to Kill, after years of playing: in fact, the band's debut MCD is dated 2000 even to understand how long the combo crowd the scene. Originally known as Legion, proponents of a melodic death metal, our guys tried to steer the shot and go to sounds, pass me the term, more pandering, or should I say more in step with the times? Yes, in fact, the ten tracks contained in "A Reason for ..." caught a bit 'here and there in the international metal scene, leaving mainly affect from typical Swedish sound (In Flames and Soilwork), the American-style metalcore (As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage), but also by nu metal sounds. So, nothing new under the sun you think, in fact, the disc certainly does not shine in terms of originality, however, while not great esteem for the nursing of this kind, which is nothing but a convoluted form of the Swedish melodic death metal, I must say that I was able to appreciate not just the release in question. The guitar is pretty powerful, arrembanti in their stride but at the same time very melodic and full of groove, even with some fine solo type in "Forever Lost", where he also lent his voice to the chorus of Flegias Necrodeth. Other very good songs, while not offering much new to a genre so many times that I have nothing more to say, appear to be "Dark Way" and "New Dawn", two excellent pieces that represent the perfect synthesis of what Enough to Kill is the sound: relentless rhythm (but sometimes slow in a vein similar to that of Meshuggah), very good melodies, clean and growling vocals, some sprinkling of synths to fill substantially the sound of the quintet led by Milanese GL (bass, inter alia, the already mentioned Necrodeth). In essence, although it is a derivative substantially disc, I must admit that I really liked listening to it and hear it again. They may not fall into my top ten of the year, but I believe that if our abandon a bit 'typical clichés of the genre, focusing a bit' more about the arrangements and the creation of imaginative environments darker (as in "slivers of A Wrong Age "), due to abuse of the essential synth, in the future will hear from these guys really beautiful. Nakaruga - Nakaruga

Band of young training that I have in my hands: the Nakaruga, band of the Swiss canton of Ticino, in fact it was only formed in 2008, releasing the same year, this self-titled MCD of 5 pieces. Armed with a solid previous experience of music, the sextet of Lugano attack us with their sound and insightful modern, futuristic and industrial, a little gem for those who love cybernetic sounds close to the masters of all time Fear Factory, or for those who love hypnotic sounds of school Meshugghiana. The ensemble alpine party suffered big with "Nakatomy Warzone", song that immediately shows the lofty quality of these guys: good rhythms, equally good vocals by the duo of Thomas and Idris David alternately growling vocals to the clean, attractive inserts matrix electro-industrial within a context very grooveggiante. The enthusiasm is already sky high from the first song, interesting also for its dark background environments. The second "Youth in the Matrix" attacks with its syncopated rhythms clearly of Sweden, with the song that plays a primary role in the structure of the song and the final points guitars lowered extremely powerful. "Converter" is definitely the best song of the lot: odd time signatures, melodies psychotic thanks to the excellent orchestral scores created by the effective keyboard publications (also engaging in furious fourth trace) and on the final track threatening the end of the world. From a lyrical point of view, our then analyzes the pattern and behavior of man towards life everyday. This is a small appetizer of what will be the full length scheduled for mid 2010 and already, I must admit, I have a bit 'of your mouth water ... (Francesco Scarci)

Yoghurt Degradation Of Lactose

Llvme - Fogeira de Sueños

My Kingdom Music has always had a big honor but also a big drawback: band go fishing around the world, extravagant (Forgotten Sunrise), refined (Klimt 1918), but also sometimes trivial (Ticket to Hell) or unnecessary (Immortal Remains), sometimes showing a lack of caution in the choices of bands to add to its roster, then the light the fact that Italy is a nice pool to draw from really interesting music by putting it under contract. All this preamble to say that I do not agree 100% the choice of having produced the CD of this ensemble English. No problem on my side against these Llvme, but definitely I can not digest it, even though this CD is now on my desk for a couple of months and the proposed ACT of Salamanca is not just banal. The sound of Iberian quartet is due to a sort of black folk doom from the strong hues, thanks to use of a violin should donate some popular feeling, but, except in a handful of pieces which can give little reassuring atmosphere, unfortunately I can tolerate. Were all the problem, you think that we will be faced with something very interesting, but still no no and no, there's something in the notes to the questions "Fogeira de Sueños" that just can not seem to swallow, perhaps the sounds guitar quite rough and not very sophisticated in black unnecessary acceleration, the dull growling vocals, the clean vocals in English (even in the Leonese language) or banalotte keyboards, contribute to make this release a job that barely reaches a sufficiently narrow. If you are looking for sounds of funeral doom, turn your gaze to the eastern horizon (Russia and Ukraine), where knowledgeable about the secret of producing music doom mature and effective. Original, but poor! (Francesco Scarci)

Dark End - Assassine

Dark End are back with their second album, after their discrete debut, "Damned Woman And A Carcass". Well, now we say that from bitter first album, concentrated black melodic death metal vampire hued symphonic, few differences are gathered, if not a certain maturity in song writing, the rest, the proposal of emiliano sextet, traveling on the same stylistic details of the previous CD. The opening is entrusted to a inquietantissimo "Pater Noster" a little 'revised its recitation at the edge of satanic litany, leaving soon to place black symphony, always influenced by the band members and Dani Filth (period "Cruelty and the Beast "), to" Alma Mater Terribilis "song from the refined orchestration and a well balanced use of keyboards. "A Bizarre Alchemical Practice hides within it a long part sung in Italian recalled that in my mind those two pieces, always sung in Italian, content on the debut album of Aborym, creepy. Definitely the Cradle of Filth are the benchmark of our local band, search for that constant and horrific atmosphere that his riffing, not original, but that nowadays very few know the band perform. Oh yes, because, dear friends, is no longer the black symphonic trend as in the mid-90s every now and then listen to records like this (remember that in Italy there are also Veronese Riul Doamnei to engage in this kind of sound) is not serves to relieve my pain for the loss of what has always been my favorite genre. Our continue on their journey, wildly hammering the listener with rhythms drawn, intersperses acoustic gothic vampire and some pompous orchestration and, unbelievable, solos by school typically heavy. Compared to the debut, is certainly the most progressive component disappeared, leaving only room for the evil of black sound, supported by a clean production and a technical component medium high. If we add also that the lyrics of the CD revolves around a concept linked to the murders committed by serial killer of women in different historical periods, the release in question acquires even more charm. Another step forward in maturity, but it takes more time, sweat, hard work and patience, but I am convinced that there will be people like me, just do not appreciate this kind of musical style. Thumbs up! (Francesco Scarci)

Black Sun Aeon - Routa

Back to the good old Tuomas Saukkonen, already mastermind of Before the Dawn, one of his many projects (Dawn of Solace, Bonegrinder, Rajavyöhyke, Jumalhämärä, The Final Harvest, others). "Route" is the second chapter of the saga Black Sun Aeon, release particularly as divided into two CDs: the first "Talviaamu" which means winter morning and the second "Talviyö" that winter night. In focusing on the alternation of day / night in winter, play the music of this interesting work of dark death doom. Assisted by Mikko Heikkila (Sinamore), Janica Lonn (Lunar Path) and strong presence in the drafting of the lyrics, Sami Lopakka (Sentenced) and Sorvail Ville (Moonsorrow), Tuomas pulls out again a proof of height expectations, which will please fans of his band. Picking up the work begun last year with the debut "Darkness Walks Beside Me", ours are good nell'amalgamare sounds sad, dark and gothic, well orchestrated by melodic guitar lines and a good song writing in the first part of the CD, that a little 'hotter, able to paint warm polar landscapes, in which a small blanket of snow covers the green forests and where the sun touches the horizon so. "Frozen", "Sorrowsong" and "Wreath of Ice" feature sounds decadent, where the heavy component is always in mind (just listen to the title track for instance). The second part of the CD leaves as it were the most intimate part of the good Tuomas, to make room for more ice sounds, featuring the long night of the polar latitudes. Messe by Apart from the leaden atmosphere of the first seven tracks, our launch into songs a bit 'wilder, where, however, can still find space to voice the dualisms (growl-clean) and the typical delays of the two vocalists on the edge of doom, the combo Finnish. Honestly I liked most of the two parts the first, where among other things in "Dead Sun Aeon", also appears the angelic voice of Janice, and where the sound of our emotional is able to animate our most romantic spirit ... Brazilian Waxing Awkward

SKW - Numbers

So let's start now by saying that the disc is not bad. Here, maybe you feel it once and electrocution, you can see major signs of originality and some songs are longer than necessary. It is, however, well produced and well played. The last effort of the Italians SKW (ex Skywalker), produced by Frank Andiver (Labyrinth, Oracle, Sun) and registered in Italy, has little to envy to other products overseas. The general idea one gets is that of a compact disc and marks a further evolution of the style of the band toward a harder sound. The track, taken individually, are valuable, well played and the voice of the singer Marco is always clean. Mention the introductory "1Minute2Lie" and "Cow (ard)" have in common inserts pleasant guitar. More aggressive "Chuck", "Hate3" and "2Muchwords", though the latter part with a certain speed and then slow down and maybe some vocals out of place. Calm and dreamy "Sleep", stands out as a nice break, with a particular sound that counterbalance the other songs. The other songs, while maintaining the level, appear with less personality, sometimes getting lost or dwell too much really sorry. Also note the closing remix of "Hate3," which carries a e some flavor to the original song. Battery precise and effective low: much better than what you hear around. Impossible not to mention the guitars of Simon (the most famous colleagues should hope in his classes), more powerful, with fine solos. One note on the performance of front man: the voice is a bit 'too linear, to be reviewed in the future. Nothing amazing about the lyrics, which follow the idea of the title dell'ellepì. A word of sull'artwork CD I personally find very well taken care of by Carosellolab, but someone warned them that they released on iTunes him upside down ... An actual work at the end, sure to please lovers of the genre, but if you ever heard of something or some special alchemy, you might not find it. (Alberto Merlotti)

How Many Tablets Does It Take To Kill You

Monstrosity - Spiritual Apocalypse

Sometimes They Come Back ... yet strangely feral death at home Metal Blade, which lately has seen fit not to hire any metalcore band from the oven but large groups of the past. Therefore welcome return to the stage, another historic American death metal combo of the early 90s. Fifth CD for the band to Fort Lauderdale (Florida), who still remember his debut in 1992, with the earth-shaking "Imperial Doom "(with under the legendary George" Corpsegrinder "Fisher), a bolt from the blue in the death scene at the time. After 15 years we are still in the U.S. act in great form, capable of producing extremely brutal music, but at the same time characterized by catchy riffs, solos and a perfect fury unheard, who now distinguished in its infancy. Recorded at the legendary Morrisound Studios, "Spiritual Apocalypse" gives us a quartet that, after numerous line-up and various problems, still wants to play, enjoy and have fun with their music. The new album is yet another sonic assault Monstrosity in typical style: rhythmic devastating marked by hyper blast beats, awesome vocals and impeccable good Mike Hrubovcak solos by Mark ax Inglese, fortunately, sporadic mid-tempos give us the opportunity to catch his breath for a moment, just to prepare all'incalzate destruction. It is interesting to note, as the technical level of Monstrosity should always improving album after album, and the wine become better with age. Lastly, the presence as a guest star Kelly Shaefer (Atheist), Matt LaPorte (Jon Oliva's Pain, Circle II Circle), John Zahner (Savatage, Crimson Glory), Jason Suecof (Capharnaum), and James Malone (Arsis) . Monstrosity, adrenaline junkies, the bearers of the Apocalypse! (Francis Scarci)

Asura - Only Death for my Warriors

In this morning's gray, gloomy and sad at the end of February, I am going to listen and comment on a mini-cd (alas, only 3 pieces) self, a band that formed in the Olbia Sassari in the not too distant 2005. These are the Asuras, Sardinian act, whose sound is defined as "melanchonic black & death metal." You can then already guess from the first track "Requiem for My Warriors," what goes on my CD player: song dall'incedere growling in the nostalgic song, with rhythms that alternate between fast lashes (full symphonic black style) breakers and meditative, with poignant orchestral parts of the insert. The drumming is fast and accurate, as well as the guitar riffing (though a little 'subdued), as if to balance the quiet and peacefulness of the keyboards, real predominant elements of this work. Having completed this track, I went back to listen to the intro: the "chorus" (but I do not know well how to define it), I recalled the typical Sardinian folk songs, as if to put in a light vein island folk ensemble. The second track "Escape from Death" opens with a delicate arpeggio accompanied a bass all played as if released from an album of old Metallica: simple lens arrangements that leave a few seconds of silence between notes and the other, the singing is always growl, while the keyboards continue to characterize the sound personality of us, revealing a more melodic vein (and, dare I say a little 'progressive) of this young band. The closing "Only Hate" is divided into three parts: the first is characterized by a fast and furious pace, the second is more melodic (see previous track), while the third takes up the furious pace of the beginning. And with this track closes the CD demo of the sextet Sardinian song very experimental but with a potential hidden that can lead them very far, especially if our fail to give greater balance to the dualism guitar / keyboards (for now moved to a more extensive use of keys but significant Psycho). We just have to wait for a new job, hoping it will be a bit 'longer and even better product, so you can give a more in depth. We are still on track. (Samantha Pigot)

This Weary Hour - No Hand to Comfort You

Debut album for this band Irish-style doom metal Which brings us back to the glories of the "old" Paradise Lost ("Gothic" and "Draconian Times", to understand), rich with a touch of malice and anguish that helps relax the senses. The album opens with "Algor Mortis," an instrumental piece that would make her look good as background music for the show-style "crime" or "medical drama" (as well as the still image of Laura Palmer wrapped in nylon or on the couch morgue). The song is composed in fact virtually on battery and low following a slow and inexorable, and disturbing: in a word, icy. The same rhythm extends to the second track, "Frozen" is sung in which the shows understood as a growling, throaty and desperate, and the pace continues to be slow and heavy, which goes perfectly with the dark themes conferring a sense of heaviness within. Although the pace remains sluggish, the voice alternates between pure anger in those situations (the cleanest) of sadness: a combination that makes it even more exciting and bad. With "Harvest" the mixture sadness / melancholy becomes more pronounced, thanks to the themes of destruction of all that you have created, almost a hymn to the abandonment of all hope. This is one of the hardest tracks of the entire album (and the longest ever, well 8:36 minutes of malice!), A sort of safety valve for Irish combo (and is also one of my favorites, especially in the days full of nervousness). "The Lure of Prominence" is the second instrumental track, focusing particularly on the interplay of guitar and bass, then focused their sound toward a framework "dark" (a word of which he is abusing you, but quite fitting in this case) , which prepares us for the last song of the album: "The Wordsmith." The long final track unfolds in three parts: the first one (named "Master of the Craft") is an illusion to receive the fruits of what you are creating, seeing with their own eyes that something is, the second part, "Threads Begin to Fray") is more that other instruments, and the illusion becomes real and despair begins to take hold of us. The third and final part, "The Veil Descends" is the ruined post, where all the high hopes were swept away and there is only despair, with the knowledge that late is late for anything else you can do. Just as the words, the music follows perfectly the feelings, emotions and frustrations, becoming angry in his epilogue, accompanied by an excellent Eamonn O 'Neill who gives a display of his excellent vocal abilities. Thus concludes "No Hand to Comfort You", with no train or sweet, as if all the forces we had been abandoned. In conclusion, I dare say that, although the album to consist of only 5 tracks, has explosive potential disruptive. Note that the band shortly after the release of the album, changed its name to People of the Monolith, so if you'd like to search for the album (and I suggest you do so), is much more likely to find it under this name This Weary Hour instead. Normal Hemoglobin Two Years Two Baby

A Cold Dead Body - Harvest Years

the series "Italians do it better," I speak to you today revelation of a group 100% Italian. A Cold Dead Body have four kids of Udine and Pordenone that consolidate the training and then their sound in 2007, transforming the initial noise in a perfect fusion of doom metal, folk, psychedelic wave that can not leave us indifferent. In fact, browsing the Internet or on the surface giving a 'look at the cd, it is very stiling post rock, but luckily there is a' deep soul that drives this band and that particularly impressed me. "Harvest Years 'is the debut of A Cold Dead Body, and there is everything, the technique in search of sounds to give a' complete artistic expression. L 'album opens with' intro "Semen," short and rather impersonal piece that ends with a brief but scream 's impact. Playing with the 'no pause between tracks, we immediately thrown in "The Womb": here the 'best male voice of Stephen accompanies a building that grows with guitar and violin from a folk touch to the whole. The third song is "Mother Pt.1", introspective and dusk and that confirms the ambient and psychedelic vein ACT Friuli, to see who produced the album had just turn our gaze to the east, the Russian Slowburn Records. The piece appears to be the 'intro of the next "Our Best Years", given by pure aggression, distorted bass and pristine sweetness on the guitar and violin playing with the item, a brief appearance in the last six minutes. From then mention "Mother Pt.2", cut short intro lyric (Incredibly) guided by a soothing female voice, to lead us all to "Collapse", where initially the voice of the frontman is caged by a effect "Gregorian" that turns into a pure scream a few seconds later. I must say that at the end of the two tracks, the risk of running out of breath is very high. "Harvest Years" ends with the ninth track, "Divinity", eight minutes of our show their artistic maturity, their endless talent and high potential, with a story that does not leave at all indifferent. Therefore, merits only a few flaws and a lot of substance. And if you have not quite figured Highly recommended and I think even better on stage, so as not to be missed! (Michele Montanari)
